Attached is Japanese photo taken right after first torpedo hits battleship
row. Position of Curtiss and Tangier is noted.
This Japanese photo was taken a few seconds after the previous one.
It shows the blast from the second torpedo, with water from the first still
in the air. Also the Curtiss and Tangier.
This photo was taken shortly after a Japanese plane crashed into the
Curitss's starboard boathouse crane on 7 December 1941. This
crane could not be repaired and was removed prior to 1 January 1942.
That is one way to date Curtiss photos. 3 cranes prior to 7 December 1941
and 2 cranes after 7 December 1941.
My only connection with the Curtiss is that I spent two years on the
CURRITUCK (AV-7) and did a book on short histories and
photographs of all 17 large seaplane tenders. I have attached a second photo
of AIR RAID ON PEARL HARBOR X THIS IS NO DRILL that was
recieved by Commander Scouting Force Pacific, who was aboard the
USS WRIGHT (AV-1) inbound to Pearl Harbor from Midway Island
